Even if Mangino is not fired, do you think he'll stay?

Based on todays presser, I don't think he's ready to walk.

I still think Keegan got this one right when he said Lew may have approached Mangino on a possible buyout of his contract and Mangino decided to fight it. I think Mangino wants his pay and doesn't believe Lew to have enough evidence to justify the termination.

Brings up an interesting scenario. What if the investigation does not show just cause for termination? What does Lew do then?

I think the fair thing for him to do would be to publically apologize to Mangino. Then gracefully retire and hand things over to Jim Marchingformoney. (Though I would prefer Sayers)

I kind of doubt that, but going with that what if, Lew might be the one w/o the job. Lew would have to issue a public statement and apologize. But I really think the damage has been done. I think Mangino is out. If Lew really did try to offer the buyout, then Mangino may be taking a big risk on trying to stay on. But I'd probably do the same thing. No real head coaching prospects, and $6.6M is a lot of money for him and his family. Hard to pass that up.

If this happened it would be worse than getting rid of him. Whether these allegations are true or not he's not going to be able to recruit nearly as well anymore. I guarantee there are plenty of parents out there that will not send their kids to play for MM.

Lew Perkins equals Frank Pentangalli. When an attempt on the emporer's life failed they were always given a chance to take care of their families.

Say what you want...he's NOT going to be fired and he certainly isn't going to quit.

I'm not saying you are wrong, but uh, that's a pretty damn bold statement. And it flies in the face of EVERYTHING I've heard from people I know working around the football offices.

That's a REAL newsflash you posted. 8 years and the anti Mangino people still "poking" the man in the tummy.

Not sure what the hell came over me....guess I was more impressed with the turnaround of the program and 4 bowls with 3 wins in seven seasons than I was the mans weight.

I sure as hell hope Lew hires someone slim enough to fall through his bottom and choke himself to death to keep the "Our previous coach was FAT" fans happy!

You know, I used to think the relationship between Lew and Mark was pretty solid. I really wonder what happened there. You give the guy a 5 year extension when nobody was really after him and now you investigate him with accusations from Mangino supporters that Lew is on a 'witch hunt.' Anybody got a realistic explanation for this one since Mangino couldn't have possibly done anything to warrant an investigation? We know he doesn't have any history on this or nothing. *Insert another sarcastic remark here.* I think Lew is doing his job and until this investigation is over, there is nothing to prove otherwise unless Mangino or players come out with something to state otherwise, or the NCAA comes up with nothing, then you will be seeing a possible change in our AD, which won't be very good either.
