Duffy Says He Could Compete in the Majors

He has been doing very well recently in the minors and has another start Friday. I have to think the Royals will be looking to get him back in KC by mid-to-late August if they are still winning and Wade Davis is still sucking.

And a side note: Man I like the kid's attitude.

"I really don't even want to think about that," he said. "I couldn't imagine myself in anything but blue. Hopefully it doesn't happen. I want to remain a Kansas City Royal. But I think those chances are slim to none that I'd be gone anyway."

He really seems to love the Royals organization. I sure hope he can come back strong from TJ and be a legitimate #3 or #4.

There is ZERO reason to rush Duffy back to MLB.

Can he start games THIS year at the big league level? Would the Royals even risk his health?

If the Royals are, by some miracle, a couple games out in September, they should probably give Duffy a try.

I agree that he should not be rushed back. But he is throwing 95+ pitches now in the minors. I would think that he will be ready before September anyway. But that remains to be seen. I don't profess to be an expert on TJ surgery or rehabilitation.

I follow him on Twitter and the guy absolutely loves KC and the fans. He is a very interactive guy and doesn't take himself too seriously. The guy is still young and has great potential as we saw last year before the injury and the year before that as well.

That was the most frustrating injury I've seen as a Royals fan in awhile. Duffy really looked like he was turning it on and breaking through at the big league level. And then pop! goes the elbow.

Duffy's stat line tonight (8/3):

5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 9 SO, 3 BB

That tells me that his command still isn't great. But 9 K'd over 5 innings? That's impressive.

I'd like to see him come up soon and spend the balance of the schedule in the pen.

The problem is that KC doesn't need help in the pen. They need to stick Wade Davis in the pen and get back-end help from Duffy. Hopefully Duffy is ready to go after a couple more AAA starts. But if that means risking his health, ride it out with Wade Davis. Do not risk Duffy. He'll be starting for Omaha on Wednesday or Thursday, I bellieve.

Bob Dutton tweet:

"Hearing LHP Danny Duffy heading to Kansas City, presumably to start Wednesday vs. Twins in place of Wade Davis. No confirmation yet from club."

Wow...if true.

I would have no issues with this at all.

I like the move, if Duffy is ready to go.

I would like this move as well.

Just didn't think he'd be ready to go yet.

Really like bringing Duffy to KC. Davis needs to be in the pen. I'm guessing they are going to send Coleman back to Omaha?

It may just be for one start while Davis tends to his family emergency.

Yep, Davis is gone for a family emergency regarding his brother. Hopefully nothing awful comes out of that. I figured Wil Smith would start in place of him. But if it's Duffy, I'm excited.

His stepbrother died.
