What's the appropriate punishment?

What's the appropriate punishment? - 07/27/13 11:10 PM

Can you imagine if an NBA player did this? Say, Ron Artest? Or an NFL player, say, Ray Lewis?

Are these tirades really funny at all?

I think some of them are pretty funny. Like the minor league manager who lost it a few years back and started throwing bases and the rosin bag (like a grenade).

Your video linky no worky. I will assume this is the Ortiz phone smashing incident. Not sure anybody said it was funny. What was dumber than the tirade was his post game explanation. I already thought Ortiz was a meathead.....he did not change my mind today.

Ortiz will be fined I am sure. Ron Artest has a history of bad behavior so bad example. Ray Lewis got away with murder so again bad example. Guys in all sports get away with bad behavior all the time....not sure why you expect baseball players to be any different.

Have to suspend Ortiz. Lots of reasons.

But it should come from the Red Sox, not baseball.

You must mean "should" and not "have to" right? Boston is in the fight of it's life for the division vs Tampa Bay so there is no way the sit him. Selig and MLB are nothing but lap dogs for the MLB players union who will not E-V-E-R agree to a suspension especially given the current standings. It will not go beyond a monetary fine if that.

RSox Mgr Thinks So As Well.

Wonder what's happening in that alternate universe where Dustin Pedroia is out for a month with a lacerated cornea.

Hard to say but after RSox just threw DP the big contract last week upper mgmt would not be happy losing a guy to an outburst from a guy whose years are numbered.

Have to get a couple game suspension. Or at least a fine from the team. He's lucky Pedroia didn't get a piece of phone stuck in his neck.

Pennant race....tied with Rays......dreaming if you think MLB or Sox will sit him. The equivalent of 10.00 from his check at best.

For trashing something in the dugout?? I seriously doubt there will be a suspension. Especially if you consider he's looking at a 50-100 game suspension very soon.
