Davis has got to show something tonight to stay in the rotation.

If we go 2-2 that would be good.

Hope they can take 3. I'll be sitting behind 3rd base tomorrow night hoping to see Bruce deliver a big performance.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/22/13 08:18 PM

I really hope that was Davis' last start.

Another garbage start by Wade Davis. The error by Moose certainly didn't help things though.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/22/13 08:44 PM

Davis will be gone soon. If not now, when Duffy comes back almost certainly.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/22/13 08:44 PM

In fairness, I think he could still be a useful reliever.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/22/13 09:24 PM

Now Mendoza is getting lit up worse than Davis. Duffy.....Paulino.....come back please.

The play by Cain sure helped him though.

Yost said today Davis is going to stay in the rotation, which makes perfect sense to me...I mean, why not...guy has been stellar all seasong long. *SARCASM FACE*

Davis is gone as soon as Duffy is ready to come back. Which will probably be very soon.

By gone you mean to the pen right? Davis was a major component of "The Trade" and DM and company will ride him to prove they got the best end of that trade come hell or high water. You can bank on that.

Great pitching out of Chen tonight btw. Holland scared me as usual but a good W.

Ditto. Thought Holland was going to blow it and then I thought again. Took care of buisiness.

Absolutely. To the all-important long reliever role. He and Luis can really battle it out for bragging rights there.

Chen was fantastic tonight. As I said earlier in the thread, I was there tonight (fortunate to have awesome seats). Chen just looked so in-control the whole game. I always expect him to start sucking and he usually pitches pretty decently. In his pair of starts thus far, he has been fantastic. Nice to see Herrera, Crow, and Holland all good tonight. Holland was shaky to start the inning, but he has to look mortal occasionally. And he struck out "Crush" Davis. Fine outing by Holland.

Trade him.

They should absolutely be looking to trade Chen.

His trade value will never be higher.

Which is to say he might fetch a toolsy 19 year old who can't tell a fastball from a changeup.

Yes, I wouldn't expect much for him to be honest, I'll agree with that.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/24/13 02:17 PM

I can get on the "TRADE CHEN" bandwagon. KC might get a mediocre prospect, maybe a slightly better one if they can offer to pay his the rest of the year's salary.

Trade Chen.
Trade Santana.
Trade Holland.

(If good returns are there for the taking)
(If KC doesn't, somehow, win the rest of their games this month)

On the surface it seems like KC is making it real tough to decided to deal Santana and consider letting Holland go.

On the surface that is. I love the wins and all but both should go if we can get something in return. Playing for 2nd or third place and .500 is not my idea of making a run. A lot of really good pieces in place now. Get some good bats and GASP maybe a 2b and RF and boys in blue might mike a legit run next year.

Ok ...I will just ask this one more time....who and what team would give up decent players for Santana..and Holland also. No I dont see that happening. But will some baseball expert bonehead on here tell me who is on the block for a trade with Santana. Better be a hell of a bat .

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/24/13 10:24 PM

You have to get some promising returns, yes. Else you stay pat and wait for the offer you want.

Off of the top of my head the Braves, D-Backs, Oriols and Reds could us bullpen and or SP help. If you want to risk trading inside your division the Tigers would probably jump given they have an aging owner overpaying about everybody because he wants a ring before he checks out. The Jays need SP as well.

As far as a bat goes there is no reason DM (other than he is DM) could not pull off a deal like Tampa Bay and the Rangers did for Garza. Odds of Santana coming back are really slim and letting him go for no return would be crazy. How about AT LEAST going after a Henry Urrutia and some kind of 2 for one?

The fact is closers on non contending teams are extremely over valued and keeping one when you could get something in return is bad baseball. Don't believe it? I offer you Soria as an example in a long line of examples of getting nothing out of a reliever while he is hot when a team is not playing for anything anyway.

And I offer you Soria as proof that Dayton thinks trading Holland right now is crayzee.

The Orioles have already aquired Scott Feldman (SP) and K Rod (RP) this season. The Blue Jays are 10 games under .500 in the toughest division in baseball....so I don't see them trading any value away. The D-Backs are in a similar spot as the Royals, so 50/50 shot whether they are trying to win this year or not. Trade Santana or Holland to the Tigers? No way.

Point is that its real easy to say that we should trade trade trade. But the fact is that nobody knows any details. How do you know that DM didn't try to trade Santana to the Rangers? Maybe he wanted Profar and couldn't get him.

If Dayton pulled off that magic, I'd cease complaining.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/25/13 09:37 AM

38 innings, 1.89 ERA, 0.921 WHIP, 62/11 K/BB

37 innings, 1.95 ERA, 0.892 WHIP, 38/10 K/BB

One of those pitchers would net a king's ransom in a trade. One would get a bucket of balls. Both seem quite qualified to close for the Royals for the remainder of the season.

Give away both if Boston wants to open door #2.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/25/13 09:43 AM

Yes. There's no such thing as a third base tree, but there damn sure is such a thing as a reliever tree.

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/25/13 10:05 AM

The fact that KC is 4-2 in 6 games vs Detroit and Baltimore is very encouraging. Considering the lineup that was thrown out there yesterday. That was nearly a gimmie lineup to lose, but they found a way to pull it out.

But for sure, Santana needs to get dealt. He won't be back, and why get a compensation pick when you can get a MLB 2nd baseman and possibly a corner outfielder. Getz is decent defensively, but provides only productive outs at the plate. Giavotella is an AAAA player. KC needs a 2nd baseman, bad.
Posted by: rockchalker5

Re: Royals v Baltimore : Jul 22-25 - 07/25/13 10:35 AM

Productive outs....yeah thats what we are looking for. Dayton apparently already knows what Gio is, but I think everyone else would still like to figure that out. Giving him 30 or so ABs then sending him back down is a joke.

Indeed. And relievers is about the only thing that DM has consistently found. Of course thats because he keeps missing on them as starters....
