I am sorry for your loss today. I was pulling for your team.

I am on the Rockies Bandwagon. It is one game.....plenty of time.

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/07/09 06:32 PM

I''m here, finally - thx for looking, gutter - busy day @ work, checked in a few times for a thread, but didn't have time to start one...

Rocks ran into a great pitching job by Lee, good game from the Phils. We lost one of our best pitchers to a groin pull, not good news. Our bats were DEAD - gotta got on that a$$. Like Jo1, I'm still on the bandwagon, but we all know it's a reach

I'm pulling for the Rockies, but I look for them to get waxed by the Phils.

Rock On Rockies!

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/08/09 02:13 PM

One run is nothing. They need to get Phillies SP (Hamels today) out early and get to work on the (lack of quality) 'pen.

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/08/09 02:14 PM

It'll be interesting to see which Hamels shows up.
Posted by: EastCoastJHawk

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/08/09 02:21 PM

I say "good Hamels" (i.e. he gives up 3 runs or less in ~6 to 7 IP) The thing is though that could easily translate to a total of 6 runs scored by the Rox by the end of the day.

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/08/09 02:23 PM

Any pitch Lidge throws in a high-leverage situation is a fireable offense on Manuel's part.

Meanwhile, on the Left Coast, the Dodgers are in good position...taking one from Carpenter was certainly unexpected. If Good Kershaw comes out tonight, the series is over.
Posted by: and_one

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/08/09 06:41 PM

Hamels knocked early, then left to ballpark to be with baby-delivering wife... may have not had the good focus during the game - series tied at 1 each, now back to Colorado. It will be COLD this weekend, maybe light snow. Today's game was a nail-biter

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/08/09 07:29 PM

BTW - snowing now, ~2 inch, I'm at 7200 ft, not @ 5280 Coors Field, probably rain in Denver...

quinn - ya know, we gotta shot at this series!

Don't downplay it. You have a huge advantage now.

NICE W! Rockie Chalk Rockies! Go get 'em guys.
Posted by: and_one

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 04:12 PM

Jason Hammel v Pedro Martinez starting pitchers... Hammel has been very inconsistent this year. Could be trouble. Martinez hasn't pitched for ~a month - strained neck.... he could be rusty. May be a day for the pens to come in early - both teams. I think we have the advantage there...

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 04:18 PM

After Manuel treated yesterday's game like Game 7 of the World Series, yeah.

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 05:05 PM

can't play game 7 if you don't get there...

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 06:04 PM

this just in - TBS is talking to MLB about postponing The Sat game with resched to Monday. Weather is forecasted to be 15 deg wind chill, high 20's actual

I think TBS is worried about BB viewers v college FB

True, but why shoot your wad in a 4-0 game in a best-of-5 when you are up 1-0?
Posted by: and_one

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 06:12 PM

to go up 2-0? Playoffs are a very short season
Posted by: JFish26

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 06:20 PM

Because now the Phillies are sorta screwed if tomorrow's not postponed. Horrible managing.
Posted by: and_one

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 06:24 PM

don't agree, 2-0 would have been dominate, didn't work out. Rocks lost a starter to a groin pull, iffy starting pitching and iffy early pen - set-up and closer are solid. Not horrible, just playing the game
Posted by: JFish26

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 06:25 PM

Are we even talking about the same thing? It's damn hard to excuse Manuel for using two starting pitchers in short relief yesterday.
Posted by: and_one

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 06:29 PM

understood - all I'm saying is the Manuel took a chance to go 2-0. Drivers seat. Didn't work out. Best next play is to call TBS & MLB and beg for resched

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/09/09 10:03 PM

and_one -

I could see the case made for that "strategy" due to the Phils bullpen woes and a win giving a guarantee that they would come back to Philadelphia for the deciding game.

But IMO, the ONLY way to justify that "strategy" (for lack of a better term IMO - lol) it would have to be a 1-run deficit at the worst but moreso a tie game or a small lead.

Not when you are already down 4-0 after 5 innings and at best you have a 33% chance of winning the game.

He shot his wad on a game that he was likely to lose anyway and may very well cost the Phils a chance to advance.

If they were DOWN 0-1 in the series as opposed to being UP 1-0 then that's another case all-together.

Excellent points.

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/10/09 10:59 AM

I agree with both of you, it was a bizarre move. You both know the team better that I, perhaps it was driven by the fact that he has little faith in his bullpen?

poor babies... Phillie fans should be doing forehead-slaps for their good LUCK, now they get back to their normal rotation in spite of questionable coaching. The Rockies are the ones being screwed here.... play the game

Game 3 - Happ

Game 4 - Lee

Game 5 - Hamels

This is going to give the Phils their best chance at winning.

game over - nice series Philles

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/12/09 11:19 PM

While it's not quite like seeing Michael Lee's shot swatted through the SuperDome or Raef's 3-pointer clank off the rim in Birmingham, watching Tulo stumble in the same situation (2 out, bottom 9, Gonzalez and Helton on base, down 1) twice in the same day ranks up there in terms of rip-your-heart out disappointment.

The top of the 9th was brutal.

Oh well, it was cold out there, but there is nothing better than playoff baseball and I plan to be right back out there whenever the Rox return.

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/13/09 06:57 AM

Nice season.

arvada - Nothing better than playoff Baseball? I will take playoff Football, the NCAA tournament, the Kentucky Derby, good sex, and maybe even Playoff Hockey over playoff Baseball - and I like playoff Baseball. Sorry your team lost! Go get 'em next year.

Interesting that you say "maybe even playoff Hockey" when last year in a way to be contrary at that point, you called playoff Hockey the most exciting of all sports playoffs.
Posted by: larryb

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/14/09 07:11 AM

I am a Blackhawks fan. Last season was exciting. When the Blackhawks are not in the playoffs they are less exciting to me. You know, kind of like when the Jayhawks are not in the Final Four, Elite 8, Sweet 16. Or do you not feel that way?

My next question/s to you is how and why would you possibly remember me saying that? Does what I say have that big of an affect on you?

Last year I would take this game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG_gvqCcf38 over any Football, Baseball, Basketball, and NCAA game that I watched in terms of excitment. That's me and I don't expect too many people to agree with me.

Quote:

Several reasons how/why I can remember something you don't.

1. I have a great memory.
1a. You don't

2. I didn't kill a bunch of brain cells doing drugs
2a. You did

3. On top of #1, I especially remember stupid-azz comments made by people
3a. You make stupid-azz comments that you probably don't believe in most of the time but say it just to be contrary as you think it's "amusing" and have a hard time keeping track of all the bullshit you spew out.
Posted by: larryb

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/15/09 05:38 AM

1b. You THINK you have a great memory. It's not as great as you think it is and you're not as smart as you think you are.

2b. You have never used any drugs in your life time or you're extra special and you just didn't kill any brain cells when you did?

3b. To you - hockey being the most exciting of all sports playoffs is a "stupid-azz comment". To millions of hockey fans it is not. Having a Todd Reesing avatar is stupid-azz. Why? Because I am the ultimate authority on what avatars are "stupid-azz" and you are the ultimate authority what sports playoffs are exciting. Right?

3c. You accuse me of not remembering what I said. In this case did I ever dispute that I said what you accuse me of having said in the past? Let me help you with that one - no.

Re: Where are the Rockies Fans? - 10/16/09 05:54 PM

Took a tour of Coors field today. The tour guide said we couldn't go in the visitors locker room because the Phils spilled so much beer on the floor while they were celebrating that the entire place smelt like pure sh*t. It's been how many days since that series ended and they still haven't cleaned it?
