2018 Awards

2018 Awards - 03/04/18 03:19 PM

Graham getting POY for the Big 12 is well deserved.

Self being Co-coach of the year is deserved( I guess) With our current roster, it was a great coaching job overall.

Newman- I don't know about this award that much. He did some really good things during the Big 12 season, but as of late not much in my eyes.

This to me sums up the Big 12. Our coach wins the COach of the Year, our best player wins the POY, and our 2nd or 3rd best player wins the newcomer. This conference was solid this season. It was not great, but solid. We might have some really good coaches in it, but talent is still in blue. Even in a year when we are not all that, we still out class most teams in this conference.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk once again!

Since all of the scandals being brought forward in the last 10 days, does this bring Graham up a level for the Wooden award?

I would give it to him right now, but since Mason won it last year, I am guessing he won't get enough votes.

Ayton is in my book out. Young has almost played himself out of this award in the last month or so. Graham has been the most consistent.

All-Big 12 first team

Devonté Graham, Kansas
Keenan Evans, Texas Tech
Trae Young, Oklahoma
Jevon Carter, West Virginia
Dean Wade, Kansas State

Dean Wade is a surprise. Svi Mykhailiuk is my choice over the Wildcat. Who would you rather have on your team?

Mohamed Bamba was very impressive and could be selected IMO.

Marissa Christopher from the Philippines.

i see what you did there. but why the animus? the fact k-state will have two preseason first teamers and the poy next fall shouldn't be seen as a threat to bill's transfer-u program. only tubby can speak to that.

Anybody know much about Dean Wade except he played for a very small school in St John KS and led them to several state championships? Did he play AAU ball? Was KU interested in him? Who has the story?

He was the #106 recruit according to rivals in 2015. He definitely played AAU ball...for some smaller "Mid-Kansas" team from a brief internet search.

We took Diallo and Bragg that year. KU never offered but watched him play and showed some interest. I believe Wade visited KSU, committed, and then stopped taking calls while also cancelling any other visits to Wichita State, Iowa, others.
