BROTHERS TO TRANSFER - 04/05/17 07:27 PM

Coach Self is so good at getting these off season transfers--

Dedric, K.J. Lawson to transfer out of Memphis

from NBCSports

Memphis basketball and Tubby Smith suffered a brutal blow on Wednesday when the Lawson brothers announced that they will be transferring out of the program.

“We are born and raised in Memphis and love the city with all our hearts,” Dedric and K.J. said in a statement signed by the pair. “However, we must do what is best for our future, our dreams and our family. So we plan to transfer.”

Dedric is a sophomore forward that averaged 19.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists this season. He would have been a borderline preseason all-american if he was eligible to play this year. K.J., a redshirt freshman, averaged 12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds.

The pair will now be the most sought-after transfers on the market this offseason. It’s worth noting here that their father, Keelon Lawson, was on staff at Memphis — he was hired by Josh Pastner in order to get the brothers to commit — and will reportedly no longer be on staff after this season. The Lawson also have two younger brothers that are five-star prospects in the Class of 2019 and 2021, respectively.

I am assuming they will have to sit a year. Probably not enough room for them this year, but next year they would fit in great.

That's a big hit to Tubby Smith squad. Tubby Smith been around for a long time. I can remember him at Tulsa and Georgia. Looks like he signed a 4 star last year and will always pull talent from poverty Tennessee and Memphis.

Bigdog you keep that oil flowing through the pipelines and Self will keep the basketball studs flowing though the pipeline at KU.

Still in great shape to land Trevon Duval.

Trevon Duval was at Late Night for the official visit and at the KU Baylor game for the unofficial visit.

Duval is as explosive a playmaker as there is in high school basketball. He’s a big time slasher whose driving style translates to the highest levels of the game. He’s not just super quick off the bounce, but also powerful at his size…

Nice of him to tell tubby to go phucque himself on his way out the door.

The children thanks to social media cannot resist an opportunity to make an @$$ of themselves for all the world to see. They just cannot resist the urge. I wish I could say this surprises me, but it doesn't. Teenagers.

Tubby demoted their father a year ago when he took the job at Memphis. Yes. So. Josh Pastner hired the father, not tubby.

The kid is a knucklehead being a knucklehead. You know something about that. Don't ya.

The brother could follow Pastner east and eat sea food or head north and eat beef. It's a transfer not based on what coach but who offers the better food. Memphis is known for some BBQ and so is KC.

If I ever got fired from my job, I would hope my teenage sons would not do this. I would be embarrassed and upset. I hope BS doesn't hire their Dad. Enough bad apples in this barrel, we don't need a tree around that produces them.

I've hated Tuby ever since that thread back in 2005.

I don't think we have to concern with that.
