Duke all ACC LB out for season

Duke all ACC LB out for season - 08/12/14 11:29 PM

Was leaning toward a loss to Duke. The loss of an all ACC LB from last season and preseason one this year makes me think KU has a better shot. Sorry for the kid, just looks like a big loss for a team that lost quite a bit from last year already.

FYI - the Denver Broncos have the RB who got them 2-3 yards last year every time he got the handoff at Duke. He may have a chance of sticking.

Agree with comment above.

Are we rooting for our opponents to get hurt so we have a better shot at winning? Strange.

You have brought this up before, I still don't think we are "rooting" when news is discussed.

yeah, not sure how informing people of something that has already happened is considered "rooting".....usually you root for something that has yet to happen (and on that note i also don't remember anyone on here or anywhere else saying...."man, if that All-ACC LB would just tear his ACL, we would be golden!!")

So nobody on here just implied that them having a top player go out helps our odds of winning? Really? Okay.. whatever.

of course it helps our odds....thats simply a fact that has emerged out of a crappy situation for this kid. It is not however, rooting for injuries. You are trying to tie the fact that an injury to an opponents top player means that we were hoping and rooting for that to happen all along. Far from the thruth, and a pretty silly stretch to try to make.

Re: Duke all ACC LB out for season - 08/13/14 09:53 AM

yes, I am suggesting that there have been some posts celebrating the injuries of opponents. This isn't the first time I have brought this up, as KUCO_VOC pointed out. It seems clownish.

Re: Duke all ACC LB out for season - 08/13/14 11:31 AM

Wow. I really am surprised I'm being accused of rooting for injuries or celebrating it or whatever. An injury to a top player happened. KU plays them this year. Should it never be discussed? Pointing out that my opinion may have changed about KU's chances in this game is hardly celebrating it. I even said I'm sorry for the kid. Man, no wonder there are only about 8 people posting on this board these days??? Guys go down in college and the pros before the season every year and they are discussed. Generally teams that will be playing them talk about it, and might even say we have a better chance to beat them now. I don't see anything wrong with that. Unless they are saying HA HA kid blew his knee out!!! Boom now we're going to win. Then OK I could see what you're saying. Didn't happen here, probably not the best time to come in and throw that crap around.

exactly 1234....but don't point out facts to namo, they don't register with him. notice how he originally said people were rooting for injuries to happen, and now he is claiming people are celebrating them after they happen (not that either are even remotely true).

Stick around....he'll change his wording/stance again shortly.

Injuries are a big part of practice right now for all teams so let's give a big hooray for any and all down for the season!

That's not what I meant to say...

But seriously, football is a violent sport that can cause injuries and the news is something I can accept if 1234 or anyone else brings it up. Carry on.

Depends! Are the Bugeaters on our schedule again???? Nebraska and Misery are the only two schools I ever wished ill will upon. They both deserve it!

Back in 74 the Big Red took out Scot McMichael and Robert Miller on consecutive series....both were All Conference level starters for our Hawks. We lost both for the season as I recall and the two 15 yard penalties just didn't seem like a fair trade.

So Huck all Fuskers.......and Muck Fizzou!

Agreed with been.

You always have to take injuries into account when figuring odds on winning. Not rooting, but observing.

Re: Duke all ACC LB out for season - 08/14/14 04:54 PM

Looks like ISU is having a rough go of it with injuries too....

"•Iowa State's already-thin defensive line has taken yet another hit. Junior college defensive end Gabe Luna might have to redshirt after injuring his back, the Ames Tribune's Bobby La Gesse reports. The Cyclones have already lost incoming defensive tackle Terry Ayeni to a torn ACL, as well as tackles David Irving and Rodney Coe, who were booted from the team in the spring. The Cyclones still have good players up front. End Cory Morrissey was an honorable mention All-Big 12 pick last year. Noseguard Brandon Jensen has started to come on again after rejoining the team after spring ball. But Iowa State's depth up front has been decimated. That's a scary way to begin the season for a unit that finished last in the league in 2013 in sacks and rushing yards allowed."

If we don't beat ISU then Weis needs his head examined.

Nobody likes injuries to any teams players. But it does make a difference in the outcome of games. Talking about them is a part of the game. Here is wishing everyone could stay healthy, but they won't including our beloved Jayhawks.
