KU commitments

KU commitments - 01/07/07 02:25 PM

Sounds like there will be three and maybe four, possibly five, commitments from this weekend. The ones I heard will be committing are Connolly, Hodges, and Chris Harris as the most likely, I see Slant already has Harris committing to KU. Shaka Harris may get a formal offer from KU along with Murdock who is a soft verbal with Alabama, from Florida who may, mind you, already have a certain mindset about Saban, and could be the reason for the unexpected visit to KU this weekend. Odom may commit for the last DB spot available, assuming they hold a spot for Cole.

Btw, he's an all-state DB player out of Oklahoma. He's going to be good player at KU.

3 and 4* players are nice but some these 2* recruits can play (Gordon, Talib)

If we get another four star recruit, that will make how many...2?

According to Rivals, we have none this year...although, with William Cole (WR) on the verge, we might snag one. A really good one at that.

Scout has Patrick Resby (JUCO CB) listed as a 4-star recruit. So, depending on who you listen to...

I was hoping KU would land another DT, but it doesn't look like that'll happen.

Re: KU commitments - 01/08/07 02:55 PM

It's down to KU and Arkansas for 3-star recruit Adrian Campbell (6'6" - 260 lbs and growing) and he likes it here because of Aqib Talib. He's going to reschedule the visit he missed earlier.

Re: KU commitments - 01/08/07 03:57 PM

I thought he was a DE. I should've prefaced "300 lb, line-clogging" DT.

Looks like a really talented kid, so I hope the fact that he could play very early in his career (we'll be thin at DT in 2008) will sway him towards KU.

I've been really impressed with the recruiting so far, considering KU just lost an OC. I will be more than pleased with Cole (with Briscoe), Campbell and Ray (or Connolly). This class could be even better than last year's.

Agree with you all the way! Wouldn't it be nice if the Buddha could find another Gilbert Brown type? Do they still come in that size?

Re: KU commitments - 01/08/07 06:52 PM

Yes, but most of them are piano movers.

Re: Pianos? - 01/09/07 08:28 AM

Since that's the case, I think the new Anderson FB Facility should have at least one piano in every room!

RCJH! "Where's the BEEF?" (Just for Tubby, though I doubt he'd get it!)

He doesn't have to be that big, but it would be nice. Just a guy that demands two blockers when he's out on the field.

Re: Pianos? - 01/09/07 01:09 PM

Former KU QB, Jason Swanson happened to be a pianist. Just a random fact to throw out there. :-)

Mangino could look in the mirror and find another Gilbert Brown type.

Nope!

The Buddha is not tall enough or quick enough or possessing the vertical leap or strength. Gil ran track in HS! He also ran back a kickoff his freshman year....it was pooched right to him....no one EVER tried that again!

RCJH! "Where's the BEEF?!"

Re: Pianos? - 01/10/07 02:17 PM

Gilbert Brown was only about 290 when he arrived at KU maybe 305 by his sr year. He didn't become ultra-huge until a few years into his pro career

Re: Pianos? - 01/10/07 04:17 PM

A 6-2 290lb HS senior is huge, and not something you see often. If schools like USC, Texas, Ohio State and Florida weren't signing them all, we might be able to get one or two (we beat out Michigan for Brown). Gilbert really knew how to clog a line, and I would love to see that again.

Re: Pianos? - 01/10/07 05:58 PM

Remember when Brown and Lonneker were TRUE Frosh? They were HUGE! Dwarfed everyone else on the team....the two up blockers on the return team....they made some large holes!

Re: Pianos? - 01/10/07 06:24 PM

Wasn't Browns nickname the Snowplow?
Posted by: namohcan_99

Re: Pianos? - 01/10/07 06:33 PM

The Snow Plow would be an awesome name. :-)

Re: Pianos? - 01/11/07 08:31 AM

I think that moniker belonged to Lonneker.........As for Gilbert? I would have simply called him "sir"!
