Gameday Weather... - 09/20/19 03:08 PM

Wondering how the climate change will impact the game tomorrow. Potential for severe, they say. Which team will react worse for the weather?
If we can run the ball to good effect I like our chances.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 08:49 AM

Lucky me...just got out of my Saturday commute for this week. It started to rain here at about 8:30 (lucky again it waited until after chores!). Forecast has us under flood warning with severe weather possible late afternoon and into evening.

This monster storm with the warnings and all is so far a bust. I've got a little over 3/8 inch of rain and some breeze so far. Don't see it having much effect on the game at this rate, but I'm quite a ways from Lawrence.

NOPE. KU's DII or DIII level Oline stops the running game. Those guys are pathetic

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 05:53 PM

After we closed to gap to a one score difference the onside kick call comes in.
RIDICULOUS!
Just because it almost worked doesn't make it a smart call. WVU kicks a FG to go up 20-10.
Is this a battle to see who will be the cellar dweller?

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 05:55 PM

Oh baby! Stanley with a 75 yd bomb to Parchment cuts lead to 20-17.C'mon big D. Get us the ball back while we're hot...

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:02 PM

WVU killing us on Time Of Possession. They've had the ball about 11 minutes more than we have. That stupid failed onside kick call is providing the difference on the scoreboard.
Starting 4th quarter down 3.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:09 PM

WVU kicks FG. Up 23-17. Still just a one score game. Doable.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:17 PM

Fresh Benton Smith tweet:
"Insane INT by Washington. Skies to get his hands on it, then controls it while falling to the turf.
That's Stanley's first pick since the first throw of the BC game.
He's 11 of 15 today."
I presume that means WVU has the ball with pretty good field position.

Shane Jackson: "KU's offense has only ran 40 plays. West Virginia is now at 75 plays with 8-plus minutes left in the fourth quarter"
Our D has to be wearing sown.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:23 PM

They have a 1st down on our 18.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:27 PM

WVU failed 2 pt conversion after scoring a rushing TD.
29-17 with a tad over 5 minutes to go.
That sound you're about to hear is the cellar door slamming shut.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:36 PM

BEnton Smith: "KU moves the ball quickly on this possession, in desperation mode, down 2 TDs with 4Q clock ticking...
1st & G with 3:00 left. Pooka dropped for a TFL."

Braden Shaw: "Stanley finds Parchment again in the endzone, this time for a 3-yard TD.

West Virginia leads KU 29-24 with 2:10 to play."

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:39 PM

Gonna take a miracle from our D to have a chance...
I don't know what out TO status is. IF we used em up we're in trouble. They could nearly run it out with kneel downs.
Unless we can convert an onside kick...heh! LOL.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:43 PM

They pick up 11 yards on first play.
That'll just about seal the deal.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:44 PM

BS: "Another short gain for WVU on the ground. And KU calls its 3rd timeout. 1:22 left.
3 & 7 at the 44-yard line."

We're out of timeouts now. Now or never for our D...

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:46 PM

BS"WVU calls timeout with 38 seconds left. #KUfball It's 4th & 7 at the KU 34-yard line."

"WVU punt.
No returner for KU, selling out for a block.
Quick kick gets away and bounces into the end zone.
0:31 on the clock.#KUfball offense heads onto the field down 29-24 with no timeouts."

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 06:53 PM

"22 seconds to play on 3rd down...
Stanley to Parchment in the middle of the field. #KUfball
Stanley doesn't spike it and completes a throw to Lassiter.
He's tackled and Stanley spikes the ball."
2nd & 10 from own 49 yard line. 2 seconds left...
Stanley to Charlot and the hook and ladder to Robinson.
KU finally taken down inside the 15-yard line.
Wild one.
WVU wins."

Benton Smith tweets on KUSports Live.

SLAM.

Re: Gameday Weather... - 09/21/19 07:11 PM

It wasm't really about play calling it was about ref calling. Momentum changing calls that altered the outcome of the game. Not kidding by the end of the game I was absolutely convinced a flag would be thrown on us every play. That PI on Defense(I think) in the EZ was easily one of the worst calls I have ever seen. Only eclipsed by the blown call in the NFC Championship game last year. I'm getting really tired of this [censored].

point is that the refs are there to enforce the rules and not to influence or change the game. They did the influence
