Expectations for Miles

Expectations for Miles - 11/16/18 05:55 PM

So the Great Les Miles is likely headed to KU, what are the recruiting, and W/L expectations for the next 4 years?

I think with a top 35 recruiting class this year and no less than 5 wins next year.

Two years of eating sh!t followed by steady improvement. A bowl by year three. Eight wins by years 4-5. Hand over to strong successor in year 6 or 7.

There is enough talent if everyone comes back. I think with a decent recruiting year, the Jayhawks can be competitive next year. I expect a year like Scott Frost is having. 2-4 wins next year would be about where I expect the program to be.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I will too but the way everyone is all hot for him you'd think that is a low end expectation!

Hard to say year 1. KU is a mess, and they are losing a lot of seniors. Honestly this is my expectations for Miles

Consistently better recruiting classes than KU has been getting. Not necessarily going to put a number on it, but better. KU will get better talent than its profile deserves by having Miles as the head coach. I am not saying he will pull classes like he was at LSU, but better talent overall. I also fully expect recruiting classes to be mostly high school kids.

I also expect a more decisive coach. No more in game indecision. Also I expect that decisiveness to turn into a more coherent direction of the program in general.

I expect MUCH better clock management.

Lastly I expect continued improvement. With that said I think next year will be problematic due to losing all the seniors, and setting a new direction. I am saying KU will go to a bowl in year 4.

Overall I think these are conservative goals, and very doable.

After the way Maryland played today they may have their coach already on the sidelines.

I would expect miles to acheive expectations by 1 nations, who seems to know more than those intrusted.

4 maybe 5 wins in year 1. Would love to see him hire a brilliant OC.

I don't know who scheduled Boston College but that person should have their head examined.

Anyone have any feelings about Miles Kendrick at quarterback under Coach Miles? Or are we going to have to find someone else?

I would hope we recruit at the QB position better than Beaty did. I believe his failure to recruit a top tier QB who could throw with accuracy and scramble effectively was a significant reason for his failure to get more wins.

When BC was scheduled they were as bad as we are. They brought in a real coach. Us not so much. The results are obvious..

BTW, I believe that guy is having his head examined by a local Lawrence Psychiatrist

Re: Expectations for Miles - 11/18/18 02:52 PM

those games are scheduled years in advance, in 2027 and 2028 we have Washington State scheduled for a home and home. that are very good now but in 10 years maybe not so much.

Re: Expectations for Miles - 11/19/18 02:13 PM

The problem with expectations for the upcoming season are that we see the promise our guys showed vs OU. WIth that in mind I would say that had we had the players at their current level of development and the offensive game plan used vs OU in place for every game we played this year we would now be sitting with a record no worse than 5/6.
Several of our key players will be lost to graduation. We have a limited number of schollies to give and a limited amount of time to find Big12 level players to award those schollies to. The resulting roster must learn a new system on both sides of the ball.
Those consideration have to temper any expectations for next year. I think it is in year 2 with Miles and his staff that we will see some marked improvement. The prospects for a great incoming class are rather slim by this late in the process, even if Miles did accomplish that very thing one time before. So I'm inclined to hope for the best, but expect another year of low level conference results.

I dunno if I'd get my hopes up too high on this one cause that was one of the biggest criticisms of Miles from LSU fans while he was coaching there.
