It would be a heinous crime against that kid to let him go straight to the NBA when he's 18. What kind of person would he be if he didn't waste a year of the prime of his life letting the NCAA leech off of him while someone forged his grades so he can play basketball for nothing?

Hopefully the NBA will wake up and let kids come straight out of High School again. As far as his grades being forged - I could be wrong but this kid comes off as being well educated. He might just be a Duke guy if K is still around. Then again, I thought that about Barnes.

Yeah you're right. He does seem like a sharp kid. Definitely didn't mean it as a knock on his intelligence... I was just commenting on the current college situation in general, e.g., Derrick Rose.

Derrick Rose is a lying sack of pig vomit. Still, he's not alone. I wouldn't be shocked if at least 25% of college basketball players received some "help" along the way in terms of grades and test scores.

I'd be shocked if the number was less than 25%. But do you care?

Good question Fish! In terms of watching college basketball -not really. In terms of kids who are at 5th grade educational levels getting in to colleges because they can play basketball - yes. It's a double edged sword. On one hand, these kids would never get a chance to play college basketball and thus make a living in the NBA unless they received some "help". On the other hand, as soon as one of those kids doesn't make it to the NBA - they are looking for work and no one gives a damn about them anymore.

He really is good, not just for his age, but for any age. I hope the basketball gods are kind and make him grow to at least 6'2". It would be horribly tragic if he stopped about 5'8".
