I know many of us are disappointed with the quality of apparel Adidas has released since penetrating the college basketball market. Their quality of simply mesh jerseys and shorts has failed to meet the standards Nike set with the "swingman" jerseys and shorts---which border authentic. Well, there is good news. Today, I was at our local mall and stopped by the sports apparel store I worked at over summers in high school and talked to the manager who knows I am a huge KU fan. He told me about how Adidas has really stepped up to the plate this year and will be releasing "swingman" material jerseys and shorts. It will be the heavier material just like what Nike has been doing. Even better news: Adidas is releasing throwbacks for a lot of schools, including Kansas, and the throwbacks will be of the 1988 jerseys (he showed me a picture of the tops (#25 of course) and shorts and they are sick, gold trim and everything. This will also be in the nicer material. Now for the kicker regarding these 1988 jerseys: he said he got word from Adidas when he ordered the 1988 KU throwbacks that we will be wearing them for a home game sometime in February---so be on the lookout.
Figured I would make everyone aware of this update as it was a very pleasant surprise to hear Adidas is taking the initiative with our apparel---great things to look forward to.

Unreal. Just last week I purchased Nike shorts because I was tired of the lack of shorts by Adidas. Oh well, one never has enough basketball shorts. Thanks for the heads up.
By the way....Kansas Sampler has some nice Nike shorts for $30 if anyone is interested.

Yes, they will come---he also mentioned that some other notable schools (Florida St., Michigan, and Ohio St.) also all signed with Adidas with a contract starting either in 2008 or 2009

Michigan will be an adidas school starting next year. As for FSU and Ohio St. I haven't heard about that even though I think that is highly unlikely.

We must be wearing the '88 jerseys on Feb. 16th...

Thanks Morgan! I know we wore Converse shoes back when I was at school. I wonder if Adidas has to get "permission" from Champion to allow them to reproduce the 88 jerseys?

No prob. Not to split hairs, but I think Larry changed the shoes pretty often. It's just off the top of my head, but I believe they were actually wearing Nike SHOES with Champions jerseys in 1988. Don't quote me on that, though.
I do know that in Roy's first years they were wearing Cons.

Speaking of Converse, Hinrich's new shoe, the 099, is out.
